    Hospital Water Systems

Hospital central plants run chilled water, heating hot water and cooling towers around the clock. Fine iron and mineral scale add filter work and cleaning in systems that are hard to take offline.

HydroFlux helps downstream filters capture fine iron, and we assess its effect on cooling tower scale. On suitable existing pipe, the bracelet can go on while the system runs.

    01 / The challenge

Plants that run every hour of the year

A hospital plant serves patient areas, surgery and labs, so maintenance windows are short and planned well ahead.

    Round-the-clock operation
Heating, cooling and process loads run every hour of the year, so drain-downs and cleanings need careful scheduling.
Fine iron in older steel pipe
Older steel piping sheds fine iron oxide that can pass standard filters and collect in coils, heat exchangers and valves.
    Filter loading
Iron-rich material loads strainers and filters and adds to the maintenance team's work.
    Cooling tower scale
Mineral scale builds up in towers and condensers and needs repeated cleaning.
    A documented water program
Hospitals run documented water management programs. Any new equipment has to fit that program and the team that runs it.

    02 / The solution

What HydroFlux does in a hospital plant

HydroFlux is a magnetic bracelet that clamps around suitable existing pipe. It adds no chemicals and needs no power.

    Iron to the filters
The magnetic field helps fine iron gather into larger particles that downstream filters can capture.
    Cooling tower scale
We assess whether treatment changes deposit behavior and ease of removal in your tower.
    Installs on suitable pipe
The bracelet can go on while the system runs. We review any pipe preparation or added equipment first.
    No power
The bracelet uses permanent magnets and needs no electricity, controls or consumables.
    Measured against a baseline
We agree on measures such as iron levels, filter loading and cleaning frequency before a trial starts.

    03 / Water safety

Your water management program stays in charge

HydroFlux works on iron capture and cooling tower scale. It is not a disinfection system, and we make no claims about Legionella or other pathogens.

It does not replace your water management program, biocide treatment or water testing.

    04 / Applications

Where HydroFlux fits in a hospital plant

Start with a system that has a known iron or scale problem and a place to measure the result.

    • 01

      Chilled water loops

Central plant loops with steel piping, signs of iron and an existing filter or side stream.

    • 02

      Heating hot water loops

Closed heating loops where iron collects in strainers, coils and heat exchangers.

    • 03

      Cooling towers

Condenser water systems where scale builds up and the tower needs repeated cleaning.

    • 04

      Side-stream filtration

Bypass filters where captured material, flow and pressure can be measured during a trial.

    05 / Evidence

    Evidence so far

These results come from an airport chilled water plant and a cooling tower pilot, not a hospital. A trial measures what changes in your plant.

    Lower sampled iron
    87%
LAX, June–December 2024; later readings were higher
    Captured mass
    +9.1%
    Selected aggregated LAX tests
    Cooling tower pilot
    9 days
Softer, more easily removed deposits on the treated tube

    06 / Validation

    What we measure on-site

Every trial has a measurement plan, agreed with your facilities team before anything is installed.

    1. 01Iron levels in water samples
    2. 02Captured material per volume filtered (g / 1,000 gal)
    3. 03Differential pressure across filtration
    4. 04Filter and strainer service frequency
    5. 05Deposit buildup and ease of removal (cooling towers)
    6. 06Cleaning and maintenance work orders

    07 / Questions

    Common questions

Does HydroFlux require a shutdown to install in a hospital?

Usually not. On suitable existing pipe, it clamps on with no drain-down or shutdown. Some sites need pipe preparation or added equipment first, which we plan with your facilities team.

Does HydroFlux control Legionella or other pathogens?

No. HydroFlux is not a disinfection system, and we make no claims about Legionella or other pathogens. It does not replace your water management program, disinfection or testing.

Does HydroFlux replace chemical water treatment in a hospital?

No. HydroFlux adds no chemicals and works alongside your approved water treatment and corrosion-control program. Your water treatment team controls any changes to that program.

Which hospital systems should be assessed first?

Start with a chilled water or heating hot water loop that shows iron and has a filter or side stream, or a cooling tower that needs repeated scale cleaning.

    What power does HydroFlux need?

The magnetic bracelet needs no electricity. Pumps, powered filters and other equipment still need their normal utilities and maintenance.
